John 17

²as you have given him authority over all people, so that he should give eternal life to all whom you have given him.

³And this is eternal life: that they might know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

⁴I have glorified you on the earth: I have finished the work which you gave me to do.

⁵And now, Father, glorify me with you, with the glory I had with you before the world existed.

⁶I have made your name known to the people whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me; and they have kept your word.

⁷Now they have known that everything you have given me comes from you.

⁸For I have given them the words you gave me; and they have received them, and have known truly that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me.

⁹I pray for them. I do not pray for the world, but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours.

¹⁰And all mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I am glorified in them.

¹¹And now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to you. Holy Father, keep in your own name those whom you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are.

¹²While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name. I have kept those whom you gave me, and none of them is lost except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

¹³And now I come to you; and I speak these things in the world so that they might have my joy made full in themselves.

¹⁴I have given them your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁵I do not pray that you would take them out of the world, but that you would keep them from the evil.

¹⁶They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁷Make them holy through your truth. Your word is truth.

¹⁸As you have sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

¹⁹And for their sake I set myself apart, so that they also might be made holy through the truth.

²⁰I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,

²¹that they all may be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you; that they also may be one in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

²²And the glory which you gave me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

²³I in them, and you in me, so that they may be brought into complete unity; and so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me.

²⁴Father, I desire that those whom you have given me may also be with me where I am, so that they may see my glory, which you have given me; for you loved me before the foundation of the world.

²⁵O righteous Father, the world has not known you, but I have known you, and these people have known that you sent me.

²⁶And I have made your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.
