Proverbs 29:5

Flattery — false or exaggerated praise meant to gain advantage — is a form of deception that harms the flatterer's target. By filling someone with false confidence or lowering their guard, the flatterer sets them up for a fall. True friendship tells the truth even when it is uncomfortable.
