Proverbs 16:5

Pride in heart — not mere confidence but the deep refusal to acknowledge God and one's dependence on Him — is called an abomination, the strongest term of divine disgust used in Proverbs. No alliance of the proud can shield them from God's judgment. Pride is ultimately a form of rebellion against God's sovereignty.
