Proverbs 31:30

This is the theological heart of the entire chapter. Outward favour (charm, social appeal) is deceitful — it lies about a person's true worth. Beauty is vain — it is empty and fleeting. But the fear of the LORD is the foundation of real and lasting praise. This verse ties the entire poem back to the opening of Proverbs: 'the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.'
