The horseleach (a large bloodsucking leech) is used as an image of insatiable craving. Its two daughters — named 'Give! Give!' — represent the voice of every appetite that can never be filled. Verses 15–16 then list four things that share this quality of never being satisfied. The lesson is about the danger of uncontrolled desire: some appetites, left unchecked, never stop.
Memory phrase: Greed is never satisfied.
Talk about it: What happens when someone always wants more and is never happy?
Prayer: God, free me from greed. Help me be thankful.
