Proverbs 28:25

'Made fat' here is an ancient idiom for prospering abundantly — being well-fed, full, and flourishing. Pride stirs up strife because it always demands priority, resists correction, and refuses to yield. Trust in the LORD produces the opposite: a settled security that does not need to fight for position because God provides and protects.
