Proverbs 26:23

Proverbs 26:23

A potsherd — a broken piece of pottery — covered with silver dross (the waste product of refining silver) looks impressive but is actually worthless. This is the picture of flattery: words that sound warm and fine but come from a wicked heart. The appearance of goodness is not the same as goodness.

Memory phrase: God sees past flattery.

Talk about it: Why are nice words worthless if they do not come from an honest heart?

Prayer: God, make my words and heart both clean.
