Proverbs 26:16

This verse combines the themes of laziness and pride. The sluggard not only avoids work but refuses correction because he is convinced of his own superior wisdom. Pride and laziness feed each other: the lazy person justifies inaction with imagined cleverness. Seven wise men cannot reach someone who has already decided they know best.
