Proverbs 26:8

A sling with its stone tied in is worthless — it defeats the very purpose of the tool. Similarly, honour poured on a fool is wasted and self-defeating. Honour is a tool that only functions properly when directed at those who merit it. Misplaced honour corrupts communities.
