Proverbs 20:25

Making a vow to God and then looking for loopholes afterward is a dangerous snare. The right time to consider whether you can keep a vow is before you make it, not after. God takes promises seriously, and so should we. Careless vowing followed by attempted retreat is a form of dishonesty toward God.
