Proverbs 19:11

Proverbs 19:11

Self-control in the face of provocation is a mark of wisdom. The wise person delays anger — giving time for understanding, perspective, and mercy to intervene. But even more: overlooking an offence is presented as glory, not weakness. True dignity does not demand every wrong be avenged. This anticipates the New Testament pattern of forgiveness.

Memory phrase: Slow anger. Quick forgiveness.

Talk about it: Why is forgiving someone something to be proud of?

Prayer: God, make me slow to anger and quick to forgive.
