John 14

²In my Father’s house are many rooms: if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

³And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

⁴And where I am going you know, and the way you know.

⁵Thomas says to him, Lord, we do not know where you go; and how can we know the way?

⁶Jesus says to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no one comes to the Father, but by me.

⁷If you had known me, you would have known my Father also: and from now on you know him, and have seen him.

⁸Philip says to him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.

⁹Jesus says to him, Have I been with you so long, and yet have you not known me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father; and how do you then say, Show us the Father?

¹⁰Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak from myself: but the Father who lives in me, he does the works.

¹¹Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me because of the works themselves.

¹²Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.

¹³And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁴If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

¹⁵If you love me, keep my commandments.

¹⁶And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may remain with you forever;

¹⁷Even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him or know him: but you know him, because he lives with you, and will be in you.

¹⁸I will not leave you as orphans: I will come to you.

¹⁹In a little while, the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.

²⁰At that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

²¹The one who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me: and the one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.

²²Judas says to him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that you will reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?

²³Jesus answered and said to him, If a person loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

²⁴The one who does not love me does not keep my sayings: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father’s, who sent me.

²⁵I have spoken these things to you while I am still with you.

²⁶But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you.

²⁷Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled, and do not let it be afraid.

²⁸You have heard how I said to you, I am going away, and I am coming again to you. If you loved me, you would rejoice, because I said, I am going to the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

²⁹And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe.

³⁰From now on I will not talk much with you: for the ruler of this world comes, and has nothing in me.

³¹But so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do just as the Father commanded me. Arise, let us go from here.
