devotionPsalms 1:2THE BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND

The Cow

Did you know that Worry is just meditating on the wrong thing? If you know how to worry, you already know how to meditate. Stop chewing on your problems and start chewing on God's Promises. πŸ‘‡

"But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night." () Imagine a Cow standing peacefully in a green field. It eats a mouthful of grass and swallows it. Later in the day, it brings that same grass back up and chews it again.

It swallows it. It brings it back up. It chews the exact same grass over and over again to extract every single ounce of nutrition from it. This process is called ruminating . Meditation is spiritual cud-chewing.

Most Christians today are "Fast Food Eaters." They read a Bible verse in 30 seconds on their phone, swallow it whole, and completely forget it by breakfast. They get zero nutrition from it. A true disciple is a Cow.

You take one single verse. You chew on it in the morning. You bring it back up in your mind while driving to work. You chew it again. You bring it back up before bed. "The Lord is my Shepherd... Shepherd...

He leads me... leads me..." Worry is actually just negative meditation . When you worry, you are chewing on a problem over and over again, squeezing all the fear and anxiety out of it. If you know how to worry, you already know exactly how to meditate.

You just need to switch the grass you are chewing on.

Digging Deeper

The original Hebrew word for meditate ( Hagah ) actually means to mutter or growl under your breath. It implies making a sound. Biblical meditation is not emptying your mind to find "nothingness" (like Eastern meditation).

It is filling your mind with Truth. It is quietly murmuring Scripture to yourself until it drops from your head down into your heart. You become whatever you chew on. Reflect on this: What have you been chewing on the most today?

The News? (That produces Anxiety). Social Media? (That produces Envy). Or God's Word? (That produces Peace). Your soul smells exactly like whatever you digest. If you smell like fear right now, you need to check your diet.

πŸ‘£ Take a Step Action: The Cud Challenge. Take ONE simple phrase today: "The Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need." Set an alarm on your phone for every 2 hours. When it rings, say the phrase out loud 3 times.

Chew it. Squeeze the peace and nutrition out of it all day long.
