Proverbs 27:20

Sheol (the realm of the dead) and destruction are pictured as always hungry, always consuming, never satisfied. This is the picture of human craving and covetousness: the eyes are never satisfied. No amount of possession, achievement, or pleasure will fill the human soul's bottomless appetite. Only God can satisfy the deepest human longing — which is why covetousness and greed are ultimately spiritual problems.
