Proverbs 22:14

Proverbs 22:14

This proverb warns against seductive, flattering, or deceiving speech from those who would lead one away from God's path. The 'deep pit' imagery conveys that such entrapment is serious and difficult to escape. Those who have turned away from God are especially vulnerable — they have already weakened their defences against spiritual danger. Parents should note: the warning applies to any speech or influence that draws a person away from God's way.

Memory phrase: Wrong voices are deep traps.

Talk about it: How can you tell if a voice or friend is leading you toward God or away from Him?

Prayer: God, help me stay away from voices that lead me wrong.
