Proverbs 20:19

Proverbs 20:19

The talebearer moves from person to person revealing what was told in confidence. Often they gain that access through flattery — making people feel special so they open up, then betraying them. The warning is to avoid such people, not merely to avoid becoming one.

Memory phrase: Stay away from gossips.

Talk about it: How can you tell if a friend is truly trustworthy with your secrets?

Prayer: God, help me not gossip and not trust flatterers.
