Proverbs 19:17

Proverbs 19:17

This verse contains one of the most astonishing promises in Proverbs: generosity to the poor is treated as a loan to God Himself. God takes it personally and personally repays it. This elevates every act of compassion into a transaction with the Almighty. No act of genuine generosity toward the vulnerable is ever lost — God keeps the books and He pays.

Memory phrase: Help the poor; God repays.

Talk about it: What does it mean to lend to God by helping a poor person?

Prayer: God, help me give to the poor and trust You to repay.
