Proverbs 18:11

Placed immediately after verse 10, this verse creates a deliberate contrast. Where the righteous run to God as their tower, the rich person trusts in wealth as their fortress. 'In his own conceit' — in his own imagination — exposes the illusion: this wall is self-constructed and does not stand. Wealth cannot do what God can do.

Memory phrase: Money is a false tower.
