Proverbs 17:4

Proverbs 17:4

Those who do wrong are drawn to false and harmful speech — they seek it out, enjoy it, and give it authority. This principle runs both directions: wrong people produce wrong speech and also consume it gladly. What we choose to listen to reveals the state of our hearts and also shapes it further. A person who enjoys gossip, slander, and falsehood is cultivating wickedness.

Memory phrase: Good hearts love truth.

Talk about it: Why do bad people love to hear lies?

Prayer: God, help me love truth and hate lies.
