Proverbs 16:32

This verse makes a stunning claim: self-mastery is greater than military mastery. The ancient world celebrated the warrior who conquered cities. Proverbs declares that ruling one's own spirit — controlling anger, appetite, impulse — is the greater achievement. Inner victory is harder and more honourable than outer conquest.
