Chapter 3 is one of the most loved chapters in all of Proverbs. It tells us to trust God completely — not to think we know better than Him. When we trust God with everything we do, He shows us the right path. This chapter also tells us to be kind and honest, to give to others generously, and to remember that God teaches us because He loves us, just like a good father.

Proverbs 3 is rich with practical and theological depth. Key teaching moments: (1) Verse 5-6 — the cornerstone of the chapter and one of the most memorised verses in Scripture. Help children understand that 'leaning on our own understanding' means assuming we always know best. (2) Verse 3 — kindness and truth together make a whole person. (3) Verse 12 — God's discipline is an expression of love. If your child has ever been corrected, use this to help them understand why. (4) Verse 9-10 — honouring God with our 'firstfruits' is a giving principle even young children can practise (e.g., giving first from their pocket money).
Practice saying 'God, I trust You' whenever something feels scary or confusing this week. When you must make a choice, ask: 'What would God want me to do here?'
