John 5:35

John 5:35

John the Baptist was a lamp — a wonderful, bright witness. But a lamp is not the sun. People were drawn to John's light, but only for a season. Their interest was superficial, not transformative.

Memory phrase: John was a bright burning lamp.

Talk about it: Why might people have enjoyed John's light 'for a season' but not followed what he said about Jesus? What did they like about him without truly accepting his message?

Prayer: God, help me to be a light for You — not for my own glory, but to point people to Jesus, the true Light.
