John 5:17

This is a thunderclap of a statement. Jesus calls God 'My Father' — not 'our Father' — claiming a unique, personal relationship. God does not rest from sustaining creation even on the Sabbath, and Jesus, as God's Son, shares in that ongoing work.

Memory phrase: My Father works, and I work.
