They spake the Word, etc., unto him for they spake unto him the Word, etc., A.V.; with for and to, A.V. Observe that Paul and Silas preached the Word of God's saving health to the penitent and contrite jailor before they thought of having their own smarting wounds washed and dressed.

Observe, too, that they spake the Word of life to illuminate his soul before they administered the sacrament of baptism.
