Mark 15:11

But the chief priests stirred up the multitude ( ἀνέσεισαν τὸν ὄχλον), that he should rather release Barabbas unto them. St. Matthew (Matthew 27:20) says, "They persuaded the multitudes" ( ἔπεισαν τοὺς ὄχλους).

St. Mark's word ( ἀνέσεισαν) implies a rousing of their bad passions; agitating them to a blind zeal for his crucifixion.
