Thy cities shall not return, as in (Authorized Version after the Keri); or, shall not be inhabited, as in ; ; (LXX. and Revised Version, both of which follow the Chethib).

Hengstenberg's translation, "Thy cities shall not sit," but lie prostrate, is not extremely happy.
