They departed from Rameses. Hebrew, Raemses. See on Exodus 1:11; Exodus 12:1-51:87. The brief description here given of the departure from Egypt touches upon every material circumstance as related at large in Exodus 11:1-10:41.

In the sight of all the Egyptians. The journey was begun by night (Exodus 12:42), but was of course con-tinned on the following day.
